One of the main concerns of the society today is Education. Services like these are only offered by academic institutions, which are the schools, colleges and universities. These institutions provide instruction and people are academically developed, infused with more knowledge and taught the right ethics to become a good and responsible citizen.
Academic institutions or organizations like these are categorized in either public or private. Whether it was private or public both still have the same goal to provide education to people.Public schools are schools that is funded by the government, all the expenses that is made by the school is paid the government.
In public schools students have limited choices but still give them enough knowledge to pass each grade or level. There are hundreds, even thousands students enrolled in public schools since it was funded by the government the students don’t have to pay anything. Students are educated for free. Though it was dependent on the budget given by the government its still provides a high quality education. All the needs of the school like facilities, books, and computers may improve or give the students a quality education is being provided by the government through the state money.Of course staff and faculty of the schools are being employed the government, and the government are the ones that provides them salary. Public schools are controlled and under the regulations of the government. Private schools however are institutions that provides quality education but is paid highly also by the students or the parents of the students who are enrolled in it.
These schools is unlike the public schools, they have higher standards and have more advanced facilities. Since the “private school parents” pay high tuition they are provided the same amount of quality instruction they are expecting. Though they are called private schools, these schools still have a share on the state money. And governments give them funds whenever they need to improve or buy something. Sometimes public schools let private schools to have the funds.
But should the public education money be shared with private schools? For some reasons, public education money should not be shared with private schools. First, public schools are built by the government to provide educational services to the society. It’s called public because it was for everyone, anyone that who wants to learn can enroll to a public school. The government provides these schools to improve literacy of the people and to develop an individual. This is for the benefit of the society not for profit. Private schools on the other hand, are built by private individuals or sector.
They have their own system that is very different from the public schools; they have full control over the institution that they built. This is mainly built to provide quality education, but in return an individual should pay for it. Unlike public schools, services provided by the private school are paid by the people, one of its goal is to gain profit also; it is some sort of business. The private people who build these private schools are aware that they are independent from the government, for they are called private (for limited people only that can afford) and public is for everyone. So these private schools should not ask for funds since their schools are independent and for profit gain, and besides people who can only afford their high tuition fees are the ones who can be enrolled in their school, its not for the benefit of everyone.
The government should not take in the financial responsibilities of a private sector, because private sector should be the one who must pay for their expenses and improvements. The state money is from taxes, taxes are paid by every citizen. No one is exempted; it is required by the law. Taxes are being collected to fund the programs of the government, programs that is for the common good of the society. Citizens of a certain country should not individually ask for their benefits, they should not think only for their own good. Most of the state money is used for projects that will benefit the majority of the society. It doesn’t mean that the higher the taxes you paid the bigger benefits you will have than those who paid smaller taxes.
Like in the education, some of the state money is intended for education. But both public and private schools are receiving funds, which is unfair. The “private school parents” are also citizens that paid their taxes, but it is not necessary to give funds also to the private school where her child is studying.Every individual has a choice, whether to enroll their child in a private or public school. But money matters, those who cannot afford the high fees of private school have to option to send their child in a public school.
Those who can afford private schools has two options, send their child in a public school or in a private school. Everyone is allowed in the public school, it is the person involved that has to decide whether to use this service offered by the government or not. Basically, those who enrolled their child in a private school disregard the service that the government is offering for free, they would rather choose a private school for their child. When they entered their child in that private institution, they knew that they will spend a lot of money. People who can afford private schools are financially capable of it. The reason they are paying high fees is that the school will also provide higher quality of education, amenities, facilities and teaching staff. They are aware that they are paying whatever they will receive in return.
So why do they need state funds? They are already paying the expenses made by the private schools, expenses that are made to provide their child a high quality education. State funds should go to those who need it, those who are in public school. The main reason why they are in a public school is that they cannot afford paying for an educational service, that’s why they choose the school that is offering education. That is the role of the government to provide the needs of the society, especially services that not everybody can afford. Instead of giving the state funds to private schools (that can financially support their selves), reserved it for the public school that needs financial support in every aspect.
Public schools that are deprived of bigger funds can only provide the things that the funds can afford. The lower the funds given to these public institutions, the lower the quality of education they will provide. In one of the articles read, private schools achieved higher levels than the public schools (NCES, 2006). It only means that the bigger the money an institution, the more services and higher quality of education they can provide. State funds are really needed by the public schools, because it is the primary financial source of these institutions.
This is where they get the money to pay the expenses of the school, to afford improvements, amenities, higher technology facilities, books, reference, computers, teaching instruments and teaching staffs that all sums up to a higher quality of education. Providing more funds means increasing the literacy of every individual in the society. Also the higher the chances of the students (that are financially incapable) to go to college, beside from higher savings from free schooling they will also have enough knowledge that will equip them in their entrance in college.People should not only think for their own benefit, it a person is in excess of anything give it to the ones who is in need of it.
In private schools, people are capable of paying those fees, while in public schools people can only afford free education. State funds are intended for the benefit of the whole society, to improve, protect and develop every individual. Whether it would be in educational services, medical, transportation or other aspects, everybody will have they own share of benefits and privilege from the government. Private educational institutions should not have the funds that are intended for those who really are in need. Privilege people should give more to those who are less fortunate.
Do not deprive them of what they need the need to be educated well. What is important is that everybody will have the chance to be educated to be competent enough to face the real world.
